I talked to HR today. It seems that I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't. I sort of got suckered into agreeing to talk about leaving when I get back from visiting DH. IN SEPTEMBER.

Stupid, gullible Miah.

So, I asked HR "I verbally gave notice a week ago. I'm trying to be helpful with this but they don't seem to be wanting to look for a replacement yet. They asked if I'd wait until September to talk about it, which is fine. I'm willing to work with them. But if I find another job before then, I don't want to have to start the two week countdown again. What can I do?"

The answer, my friend, is not a damn thing.

My choices are A) Give notice RIGHT NOW! OMG! LEAVE, LEAVE! DANGER WILL ROBINSON! Which is not what I told Ass.boss I would do (Although, now that I think about it, their working solution of having me work six to seven days a week is a bit of the suck and I'm thinking no. Mostly because now that I've considered the freedom of not working Game Days, I don't want to go back to the Hell that is a GAME DAY SPECTACULARtm.) and I have a horrible time going back on my word.

B) Actually go with this 10-3 five days a week with a bonus 9-2ish Saturday and maybe a fun, fun, silly-willy Sunday thrown in.

Or C) Wait until September and say "Screw the two weeks. I told you this was a possibility. I've got another job (or not). Bye, see ya, wouldn't want to be ya.

Which is slightly childish but the more fun of the three.

Also, spent some time trying to remember the last four or five places I've worked, what I did there, how much I got paid and who my boss was. Is it a bad thing to put "Gary Something" as a Former Supervisor on a job application?

Get OUT

I think you should pretend that every time you see the A.B you can hear the eerie, haunting voice telling you "get out."

If they are telling you that giving a verbal notice of something is not binding then you should immediately submit your 2 week notice in writing. In addition you can let them know that since you had verbally agreed to talk with them more about it after you get back that you no longer consider that binding.

Get out before the first game! Go go go go go!

Re: Get OUT

Sounds like someone has been watching The Amityville Horror.

So, you're saying I should run for it?

I'm beginning to think you're right. I know that's what I want to do, I just didn't know if it was the right thing to do.

Re: Get OUT

Yes, run run run! I talked to Karen on the phone this evening and we were marveling over how many DHs and BFs helped several ladies "break out of the purple prison", so to speak.

You see, it's a team effort-when one of us is free, it's a victory for everyone. I expect my "prison break" to happen late next year if my BF doesn't find a job before then.

If you ever have any doubts, watch Shawshank Redemption and pretend you're in the banker guy's shoes.

Sincerely,
