The only downside to going home to visit family is the lack of internet. Before I left, I looked up the (only) place in town that offered free wi-fi and promised Captain that if it got too bad we could always go out for coffee (that neither of us drink) and catch up on our e-mail/LJ/Facebook/etc.
We didn't bother.
I almost didn't even get my laptop out when we stopped at a hotel on the way home on Saturday (there was a jacuzzi in my room, I soaked and watched Jurassic Park and it was worth every penny to be out of the damn car at that point). Of course, I did turn the laptop on and that's when I realized just how much stuff can accumulate when you ignore the cyberworld for over a week.
Anywho, I've just finished unpacking and putting away all of our fabulous early Christmas presents. (I'm not the only one who alphabetizes the DVDs and stuff, right?)
I finished knitting another little baby (not mine) project just before I left for the holidays, so I'll attempt to post pictures of that to
the_evil_gnome later.
Unfortunately, since I didn't get the laptop out the entire time I was away, I did not work on the fic I was hoping to write for
celebrate_sshg, but I'll have some free time before the fifth and I've still got my fingers crossed that I'll be able to work on it. If not, I can always take some time with it and post it later as a simple one shot or something.
Then again, the lure of Lego Harry Potter might become too strong and I could end up spending the next week playing on the Wii.
OH, before I forget, I also managed to see Deathly Hallows part 1 last week. Not enough Snape. Too much camping. Of course, the same could be said of the first half of the book, so I suppose the movie wasn't too far off the mark. (Far enough for me to go "What the gravy is this?" more than once, though.)
