Because the SS/HG Exchange sign-ups are here (I'm positive this is the reason, because it is a scientific fact that computers know these things and react accordingly) my computer has decided to be a prat and to randomly go "Nope, no more screen image for you, I'm still working but you can't seeeeeeeeeeeeee me" and then monitor sleeps and I scream.
This has been going on for a week.
So, today, I went out to the PX and looked around at brand new computers that can run games and programs that I want to use and has lots and lots of memory and RAM and other things that I tend to get confused sometimes. Found the perfect one for me (one that can play Dragon's Age: Origins, you know, in case I wanted to someday) and went to the counter to have it brought out.
Except... they don't have any. As a matter of fact, they don't have any of the computers on display, at all. They did have two piece of shit things that are only slightly better than my current piece of shit in that they probably would play nice with their monitors, but that was it. So I had to put in a customer order, which, I am told, means my computer may or may not show up sometime between a week and a month from now. Maybe.
I came home to bitch to the husband online and THE MONITOR PISSED OFF AGAIN.
Back to the PX to pick up a 19 inch (the smallest I could find because I do not need 20 inches of monitor in my face) monitor on display... You know what happened. Not in stock. WANKERS.
So now, I'm typing this in front of my brand new, way too huge, 20 inch LCD monitor and hoping this fixes the immediate monitor switching off issue. Because if it doesn't that means my video card is shot.
Either way, eventually, maybe, I shall be getting the brand new shiny HP that can play Sims 3 and various other games I want to play, if it ever comes in.
More importantly, this might mean I can go ahead and sign up for the exchange.
