begstodiffer - and I mean a lot of work as Gilderoy was being particularly cantankerous and refused to cooperate several times - but I have a working desktop computer once more.
Unfortunately, there had to be a complete reinstall to manage it.
On the positive side (yeah, I know, who would have thought I'd be looking on the positive side of anything?) I now have nearly 60 gigs worth of space to muck about with after all the "completely and utterly vital and important to me" files have been reinstalled. You know the ones - the outdated Yahoo that still lets me use the hidden emoticons, the word perfect office that required a special hunt through the drawer O' random computer discs, my precious photoshop elements 3 that is probably ancient yet is just complicated enough that I still don't know what all the buttons do, my music library, my two personal folders of written things and photos of people I actually know.
