Thought I'd throw out a quick and random update and to let everyone know I'm not dead or anything like that.
Captain is still here. However, we're both aware that that will be changing at any point now and wouldn't it be nice if someone would actually let us know when that point would be so that we can stop dreading it as an unknown variable and start working toward dealing with it?
Anywho - as I'm not really supposed to discuss things of that nature in a public forum for several reasons (Only one of which appears to be that some people are rather paranoid that if I mention in my blog that my husband shall be deploying at some point that some psychotic serial killer type will then extrapolate that obviously their husband, who I have never met much less mentioned, is missing and then will somehow be able to deduce their physical address and then stalk and or kill them in some fashion while they are unprotected and helpless. My answer to that, of course, is to say "What?" and suggest that if someone feels that insecure about living somewhere without the dubious protection of their hubby, perhaps they should invest in a dog or some pepper spray? Or maybe move back home to mummy and daddy while hubbywubby is out of town? YES, I realize I'm probably reacting like a bitter bitch because I'm in a piss poor mood, but I have never taken to receiving random lectures about what I should and should not do from people I don't particularly like and have little or no respect for with any sort of grace at all and that sort of thing makes me CRANKY.)
And I've gone off on another tangent, haven't I?
Other things I feel like mentioning... I've got just over 3000 words written of chapter six of 'Walls of Jericho' and am being plagued by several bunnies that want me to finish the rest of my WIPs AND start at least two other fics that I've talked myself out of in the past.
Rather than continue to try to stifle the urge to work on anything other than 'Walls', I think my goal for the coming months (once things have settled down here) might be to sit down and just write at least a page of something every day. I'll try not to worry about what story it's for and any self-imposed deadlines I may be breaking, and I'll just go with whatever bunny is bothering me that day. We'll see if that works out or not.
Which reminds me - I have a geography question for anyone who can help me out. As those of you who know me personally can attest, I suck at geographically-related type things (can't even name the state capitals without a cheat sheet or the internet, no matter how much I try the information just refuses to stay in my head, it's terribly frustrating and makes it rather difficult to try to drive across the country when I can't tell where the heck I am from moment to moment).
One of my bunnies requires a location in the UK somewhere, someplace out of the way that could house a decent-sized, MoM run research facility that is relatively unknown to anyone who doesn't work there or doesn't supply/receive things from it. I would prefer the population center to be on the smaller side, but still large enough to provide enough resources to keep the facility's Muggle needs covered. I'm looking for an actual place, as at least one of my characters will be living in a Muggle-style home complete with phone and electric.
Anyone have any suggestions? Or can possibly point me to a website somewhere that might help?
Finally, we purchased a copy of Portal the other night. Captain has already beaten the main levels, and I'm a good chunk of the way through. It's a quick game, but very amusing.
