Why is it that the more things you mark off a To-Do list, the more items appear on it?

In the last month I finished my wedding album (only took five years, thank you very much) and several other things that have been sitting on my list for a long time, yet there are now another five to ten things on the already large list.

I've had to break the thing down into categories.

Finished the wedding scrapbook - so now I have to sort the rest of the photos I didn't use and get rid of all the duplicates and put the rest in a plain old photo album that I miraculously managed to find sitting around unused two days ago. Which is strange as I don't use regular photo albums, I'm a box 'em until I can destroy them with decorative scissors and glue kind of gal. This is me not questioning fate or the random junk gnomes who like to sometimes drop things off in my home or garage.

While I have a huge stack of wedding/honeymoon photos to go through, I decided I might as well put the rest of the four boxes of photos into some sort of chronological order (which mostly consisted of me squinting and comparing what pair of glasses photo me was wearing at the time and using that to eyeball the year - score one for being blind as a bat and getting new glasses nearly every year). That took roughly a week. Most of my photos for the last three years (keeping in mind I don't actually have any photos taken in 2007 because we got a digital camera around Christmas and I just uploaded pics to the PC instead of printing, so that was an additional afternoon of sorting but now I've got a list of 60 more pics that need to be printed and dated) involve the faux-niece [livejournal.com profile] grandpoohbah in some way, shape or form.

Captain may or may not be deploying at some point within the next six to 85 months (that's my estimate, not the Army's) so his mini-album needs to be updated so that he can remember what his friends and family look like. And how to contact us. Including his wife. Who would like to actually hear his voice at least once a month this time, thank you very much. YIM is lovely, but not the same thing, kthnx.

Captain also has a brand spanking new binder to hold his various certificates that are a bit like those cute little "Yay, you participated! Everyone is a winner! Even the losers!" certificates we used to get when we were in T-Ball or the Scouts or whatever (not that I know, since I've always been an anti-social prat and team sports were so not my thing, mainly because they were sports and they involved teams), but that I've been assured are vitally important and Can Not Be Thrown Away! Not that they can be framed and hung on a wall either, which was my first suggestion. So into this spiff black binder which has the base emblem thingy on the front and cost way more than it should have. And also into this binder shall go some of Captain's photos from Iraq and Ft. Sill because I may have gone a wee bit nutty at that one scrapbook store's going out of business sale and now have a LOT of Army stickers and die cuts. Not that that's the only reason. Shut up.

Plus there is the Russia album that needs to be made, that's been on my To-Do list for about... um... 15 years so I should totally get that going at some point.

Don't even get me started on the huge list of knitting projects I want to finish for Christmas this year, the fic I still have to finish (including the Post DH bunny that will not bugger off and die), ending one RP and prepping another to start, and everything else I've got on the back burner.

I'm a shiftless lay about, there should be more time for laying about shiftlessly, dammit.

I need a nap.
