Not dead. Yet.

Me, that is, not DH. I know some of you might be concerned that I had offed him in some vague homage to Goodbye, Earl after my last post and subsequent silence.

We drove to KS. I'm always tempted to say we drove 'down' to wherever I go, no matter where the location actually is in relation to where I currently am. North, South, East, West. It's all the same. And this, my friends, is why I nearly didn't pass Geography in middle school.

Anywho... went to KS. Spent Friday night playing Texas Hold 'Em. Beat everyone but Matt, had a good comeback going but he simply had more money than I did and he forced me all in one time to many.

Saturday was spent at the Ogre's Bookshelf playing games until the Gurps game started.

On the fly, our Storyteller managed to come up with one of the first story lines to ever inspire a true "scary story" feeling in me. I've played in modern horror campaigns before, and this campaign isn't even a horror campaign. It's ... well, it's vaguely Feng Shui The Game in that we've got a little bit of super hero powers, some undead, mystic scrolls, vampires, the Enterprise Griffith (a starship), etc. It's actually really fun, thanks to the hard work of the Storyteller.

But last Saturday, I kept getting a zombie flick vibe from the game (I seem to be the only horror movie buff in the group), which was probably intentional on the Storyteller's part, even though we only ran into one actual zombie on our raid to recover this artifact. However, we (and by that, I mean I) knew there were eight empty graves and five missing UN workers so there should have been many more. We got back to the boat only to discover that our boat crew (We were on a river in the jungly stuff somewhere... umm, jungle-like. Again, that would be geography.) had disappeared, leaving only a blood trail over the side of the boat. Which I had sort of temporarily, on purpose, broken so that the Captain couldn't leave us stranded - coughcoughtamponinthefuellinecouchhack.

Heartbroken at our loss, for all of about two seconds, we fixed the fuel line and tried to take off. But the boat wasn't moving. I checked everything I could reach from inside the boat and couldn't find a problem (as is my job, being the techy). The starship Griffith came by as we were considering our options (and the odd thumping noises coming from outside the hull) and confirmed my suspicions that there were humanoids under the water, holding our boat still.

Major creep out moment for me. Still getting goose-bumps just thinking about it.

Sunday we met [livejournal.com profile] rewil, [livejournal.com profile] beeform, [livejournal.com profile] sigma7, Jane't and Matt for lunch. The meal took forever, but it was nice to catch up with people.

Then MrMiah and I took left to drive back to OK.

And no one died.

Yet.

Sounds like a fun story to play! My husband DMs our D&D 3.5 game, and we get LOTS of zombie stories (although they are rarely as deliciously scary as yours sounds).

He's a nut for zombie movies, so I get to see a lot of them. So many, in fact, that I've become something of a zombie movie snob. I prefer Japanese zombie movies now. They just have something that your regular run-of-the-mill zombie movie lacks. :) Although I did really like the recent remake with Ving Rhames. I was so sad when (name removed in case you've not seen it yet for some reason, but you'll probably know who I mean) got bitten! Nooooo!

I've seen a few of the Japanese zombie movies. Always entertaining.

And yes, I was upset when what's his name is all "I have to stay. Go, leave me to the zombie hordes, run along and play Gilligan with your friends. Our love will never die. Unless I manage to blow my own head off, and then all bets are off. Otherwise, I will wander my undead ass all over the planet looking for your tasty brain-meats. Out of love."

And no one died.

My favorite stories end that way. ;)
