I slept all Monday since I pulled my first all-nighter in months the night before, for no real reason other than I was being stubborn and I wanted to finish reorganizing Captain's Pirate cards.
The first two of several newly ordered wizard rock CDs showed up today: the new The Remus Lupins and the Ministry of Magic CDs - both links are myspace accounts with music players, consider that a warning. It seems like everyone I like to listen to is putting out a new CD over the summer, which is great for everyone but my checking account.
The Army, being the Army, changed its mind again and decided to let Captain have his leave in July after all, so the new-new plan is that we will go north to stay with Alex as originally planned and then I will meet up with the Harry Potter coalition in Manhappiness for book day, and then will eventually follow home![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
rewil like some sort of infectious disease and mooch off her good gracious for a week before she drives me half-way home where the Captain will pick me up again. With any luck I'll get a chance to say hi to some old friends I haven't seen in ages during that week and get some work done while I steal borrow Beck's wireless bandwidth while she's at work.
Captain and I are at that place where we're technically very low on money (sort of) but we have just enough to get away with getting extras we should pass up but we don't, and yet still afford to pay the bills and eat. Instead of saving anything or setting it aside for later, we're spending it all now. Which is something we need to change, is something we've actually started to make an effort to change, I mean I've started cooking instead of going out every night. I'm cooking, which has opened a whole new can of worms in that Captain doesn't necessarily like how things end up when I'm done cooking them and has been a bit of a shit about it all week with the vague "oh, that's runny" comments and there was that one night last week were we ended up throwing the entire pot full of stuff into the trash and went out for food because it was not good so I ended up snapping the other night and reminded him that he knew I didn't know how/didn't want to learn how/didn't like cooking and yet I have been for a few weeks so he would damn well eat the runny slop without a word of complaint or he could start cooking his own damn food... What was I talking about?
Money and toys.
So, right now we're barely scrapping buy, but we're also just a few months away from deployment and to be honest I know that I will spend less money once he's gone because I've done it before and I don't go out to eat alone, I don't go to the movies alone, and because of the dog I don't go to visit friends very often anymore -- and right now, while Captain is home, I'd rather spend the money and do things together and buy treats that make us both happy as long as we can still afford the bills and necessities.
So Sunday we had an impromptu early Christmas/Birthday for him (due to the timing of his deployment, by the time I get an address to mail a care package to him, it will already be too late for Christmas) when I found those Pirate cards he likes at the PX and I splurged like whoa, but it was unexpected and it made him happy. Which made me happy.
Plus, I ordered a Slytherin house sweater today -- on sale -- so I can dress up for the book release. Woot.
