So... Yeah, I know, I start a lot of these posts that way. Every time I tell myself not to, yet I do it again.

So, I haven't felt well lately, which isn't "new" news, really. I mean, when do I actually feel one hundred percent great? That's right, never. You know why? Because I'm a hypochondriac. I totally admit that.

Moving right along, I haven't felt well lately but this time I'm going to spare you all the boring details because I'm feeling generous.

Instead I shall mention last Friday night. Captain was going to just south of Wichita on Saturday to pick up OUR BRAND NEW to us CAR and I didn't want him to be bored during the seven hour round trip so we decided to celebrate his birthday a few days early. We went out to his favorite Mexican place (which I can't stand, but it's his birthday so I dealt with it) and he opened his presents. I had also wrapped up his gifts from [livejournal.com profile] rewil and [livejournal.com profile] alexshultz so he'd have a bunch of things to unwrap. I wanted to make this birthday nice for him because he'll most likely be in Afghanistan next year and last year he was just getting home from Iraq and we were on the road for that first week or two so there wasn't much chance to celebrate.

He hasn't heard from his family in a long time either, and I don't want him to leave at the end of the year without talking to them and I know we don't have the money or the leave to drive out to visit them so I offered the option of maybe inviting them down here for a visit after we buy some living room furniture and set up the guest room with the futon. He said we'd talk about it later.

Speaking of new furniture... I found a nice blue sofa and loveseat set at the PXtra on sale, but I suspect by the time we have the room for it and have gotten the carpet cleaned up they'll be gone. There's also this bit of... weirdness involved in buying new furniture. With the bedroom suite it wasn't so bad because for the most part we keep the dog out of the bedroom and the cats don't really do anything other than shed. But living room furniture, that's different. EVERYBODY in the house sits on, gnaws on, scratches and drools on the living room furniture (and believe me I have told Captain to stop so many times). The idea of spending money on brand new furniture knowing it's going to be subjected to a dog and two cats sort of freaks me out.

And finally, someone has moved in to the other side of my duplex. I'm hoping this means an end to being woken up by hammering and pounding next door every single time I tried to get some sleep. It's like they've never heard of anyone trying to sleep during the day before, where's the consideration?
