The next time I get the rather brilliant (that's sarcasm, just a heads up) idea to leave for a rather long road trip before the ass-crack of dawn, would someone remind me that I am NOT a morning person?
Went to bed at eleven, got up at four (already behind my insane self-imposed schedule) and was on the road by five thirty. In the morning. I thought I was seriously going to either crash the car or be forced to pull over and nap until I could keep my eyes open without the windows rolled down, Classic Coke pulsing through my veins and Brittany *I know, I know, ignore the words and listen to the bass line, that's my only excuse* Spears blaring out of the CD player at twice the normal volume. And leaving at five thirty means I hit OKC just in time for morning rush hour. That was fun. (Sarcasm, again)
In the end I made it to Wamego by noonish, had lunch with
dazite. Drove on to Manhappiness and visited their Hastings looking for something for
cptn_oblivious that I hadn't been able to find at the local Hastings. No luck there, either, but I did find a used copy of Hush by Texas, which is one of the last two CDs of theirs that I didn't have. Now I only need the new one which is going to cost me close to $35 on Amazon.com when I finally get off my lazy butt and order it.
Then I drove over to Varneys to see how many people I used to work with were still there. Not a whole lot, it turns out. There were enough that I ended up sticking around for a few hours while I waited until it was time to leave for my next stop. I promised I'd try to swing back by on Tuesday and eat lunch with some people. One of my regular customers from back in the day came in and since there was no one around who could help her I ended up getting her stuff and we talked for a bit while someone who actually worked at the store made the register work (I have no problem going behind the counter and doing that stuff but my old boss was wondering the floor and there was no need to make her crankier than usual).
Then there was another hour long drive up to visit
alex_shultz, where I'm currently staying for a few days. Gonna get to spend Easter with
grandpoohbah and her parents, so I'm pretty happy about that. Ended up passing out by nine.
So, yesterday was a long day.
While I was asleep, Alex was kind enough to install my new copy of Photoshop Elements 3.0 on the computer and when I have free time I'm going to go nutso. Then again, I could install Sims2 and spend hours doing that instead. Decisions, decisions.
