Not subtle... that's me

Since a ton of people have figured out what is wrong with me already (at least one thing at any rate) - a good chunk of them before I figured it out, annoyingly enough - Captain and I decided we've been keeping mum long enough.

Amusingly, most of the people we have already told all claimed they already suspected but didn't want to say anything in case they were wrong, which is totally understandable.

Anyway ...





Yep, by the end of the year there should be a mini-MissMiah (or mini-Captain) in the world. We are just short of the end of the first trimester, but Mom and Midget were going to a family gathering yesterday and Captain and I agreed that she could tell the rest of the family then, so we might as well blurt it out here and on facebook too.

I'd like to mention my due date, but we've been having a bit of difficulty figuring that out. I've been given three so far - two were "firm" and the third is tentative with another sonogram (my third) due in the next couple weeks in an effort to figure out if I'm closer to Date Number 2 or Date Number 3. Luckily those two are only a week apart, so we're pretty sure we've got it narrowed down to the first half of November at some point.

Which means I'm going to be pregnant the entirety of a Georgia summer.

Can you feel my joy?

OMG OMG OMG OMG I was so hoping this was what was "wrong" with you! I'm so happy for you guys!

Are you planning to find out what flavor you're getting?

On an unrelated note, could you bottle up some local water and send it to me? lol

Our hospital does not do ultrasounds just to find out the sex, but they are willing to spend a few extra seconds poking around during a regularly scheduled one to see if they can find out for you. Normally I would only be eligible for two ultrasounds, one at the beginning to establish due date (HA) and one at 20 weeks, but I'm high risk (like whoa) and they're having issues figuring out my due date so my third will be coming up in a week or two and I know I'll be getting them fairly often toward the end because I'm diabetic and they need to monitor the placenta.

We were advised against getting one of those 3D/4D ultrasounds that you pay out of pocket for. Apparently they distress the baby. Also the baby always ends up looking like some sort of creepy face eating alien.

So, basically, if we find out what flavor, that would be awesome.

I am totally with you on skipping the mutant 3D ultrasound. Those things completely creep me out. I was not tactful enough to NOT say so when a soon-to-be grandma came to work and gushed about how her daughter was having one of those that very day. Oops.

Are you guys going to have a theme of some sort, or just "colors we kind of don't hate," or anything?

We really have no idea on colors or theme yet. I've heard a rumor that the baby shower will have a Harry Potter theme (my friend has threatened me with one of those for years) but other than that... nothing yet.
