Am I the only one who had to sing that song every year in grade school choir?

Anywho, Halloween. We didn't do much to celebrate the holiday here at MissMiah Manor.

Bought three bags of candy. Either I've lost my mind or there are less pieces of candy in those bags than in past years. Either way, three bags barely lasted an hour and a half. After that, we closed the blinds and turned off the porch light and all the lights in the house and watched a documentary on John Carpenter's Halloween in the dark, hoping none of the teenage buggers who didn't even bother trying to dress up and were running around using pillow cases for candy bags would egg the house or TP the car.

Actually, most of the little buttmonkeys in the neighborhood aren't too bad. There were a little tribe of delinquents that used to roam up and down the street for months last year, but they finally caught a clue after someone called the cops on them (they were upsetting my dog and we weren't the only ones) in the middle of the night.

Anyway, I was too "OMG Stranger Danger!" again this year to actually give any candy out, so Captain had door duty, but I did see one or two incredibly adorable tiny munchkins in little tutus and fairy wings waddling up to the door. Captain gave a piece of candy to one little darling, who then reached into her sack and gave him a piece back. Captain said thank you, very politely, and subtly handed it off to the mommy when the little one wasn't looking.

There was another little one who was dress like some sort of Transformer, who made it part way through the yard, then froze with his hands covering his face and refused to come any closer to the house. It occurs to me just now that he might have heard the dark barking - Brandon was crated in the spare room because his little head would have exploded at all the strangers coming up to His House! Not to mention the Evil Doorbell! - and been too scared to come any closer. Captain gave everyone at the door some candy and then went out and put a piece in the little boy's bag. He didn't uncover his face until Captain was back at the door, poor thing.

So that was my night. Pretty uneventful, other than Roswell getting into the bedroom and barfing on everything in sight. As cats do.

In other news, I am completely caught up on the exchange as of this exact moment, and am running out of time to finish knitting some things for Beck's Christmas gifts and to start working on Christmas cards. It's November already, so far behind for Christmas, it is not even funny.

I love the idea of Dark Barking.

I had a little stranger fright too; I was home alone but was also determined to hand out candy, dang it! And it was okay. Pie did get scared of too many doorbells and tiny voices, though. Some Halloween cat he is!

Lol. I read that through twice before I even noticed the typo. And now I'm too amused and lazy to go back and fix it.

I used to have no problem being the candy-giver-outer when I lived with my parents but now I'm Miss Shun the Neighbors!
