I was looking for something on Google and came across what looks to be one of my fics translated into Slovak (or Czech?), with Missmiah attached to it as the author (I think).

Normally that would be lovely, but I'm pretty sure I never gave anyone permission to translate At the Edge of the World into any language, and if did I'm pretty sure I would have asked that it be credited to Darnedchild and not Missmiah.

Honestly, I don't even know if it is Slovak, I'm just going off what an on-line translator told me, and we all know how utterly unreliable those things are. It couldn't even make up its mind if it was Slovak or Czech.

So - if there's a chance that you can read it, it's here and I'd really like to make sure the story is as it was written (other than the usual rewording that comes from translating something into another language), and also perhaps find out who the translator is and a way to contact them to mention that they really should ask for and receive permission before copying someone else's work, even if it is just translating. I mean, what if I decide to leave the fandom in a huff and take all my toys with me?

J/K.

Or am I?

Seriously though, Slovak and/or Czech anyone?

If you have the time to give it a look, that would be great. I couldn't even figure out how to check and see if there was any more of my stories there under Missmiah or Darnedchild.

Checked the site. The language is slovak, indeed. There are a few translations there, but only one of them is yours. There are a few translated fics by Debjunk, Deathofme Chivalric and a few others I didn't recognize.
the same story by the same interpreter (kapi) is also posted here

I was looking at the last link you gave me and I noticed they've got a translation of Little Beloved's Denial. That's... not good.

I hate to bother you again, but do you have any idea how I can let Kapi know that while I appreciate the effort she went to in order to translate the fic, and I won't ask her to take it down, I would appreciate it if she changed the author to Darnedchild?

Do you think if I type that into a on-line translator to Czech, it would be readable?

here's the link to leave a review to this story. I'm pretty sure you could write in English. If she managed to translate your story to another language, she knows it well enough to understand you.

And I've seen plenty of Little Belovedn's translations. I think she'd given her permission to a Russian girl once a few years back, but then when she withdrew from the fandom and pulled her stories down, I don't think she asked all of them translators to remove it as well...

*blinks and wonders if she's considered one of Miss Miah's toys and decides to pout if she's not*

Seriously, flattering but very irritating when no permission is asked, but at least she didn't try to take credit for your work.
