Since Devs watched DH p2 yesterday and put up her thoughts, I figured I'd do the same. Especially since I have a few questions and I'm hoping someone might be able to answer them.

1) Charlie Weasley. Where the hell was he in the last movie? Was he supposed to be in the last movie? Am I going to have to reread DH because I am suddenly doubting myself as to whether or not he was in the final battle? Did he come through the Hog's Head tunnel like all the other Weasley swarm?

For that matter, where the hell was Charlie Weasley in any of the HP movies?! Did they even mention him? Surely they mentioned him in the first movie, when Hagrid had to get rid of Norbert. Or did they? Now I can not remember. But I know he wasn't at the wedding (unless he was supposed to be random redhead number 12 in the background or something) and he certainly wasn't running around the final battle because I would have noticed another strange redhead in non-school robes. I think.

2) Molly Weasley. I actually found her interesting. The lady who plays Molly (and I have just completely and utterly blanked on her name and am too lazy to IMDB it, is it Julie something? Julie Walters, I caved and looked it up. Also, while I was on the Harrypotter.wikia thing I found that picture of the Weasley's in Egypt and there are nine of them, so one of the random dudes in the back is probably Charlie. I guess.)...

Getting back to Molly, she's such a strong, assertive character. Which - as much as my fanfiction writing self likes to make her assertiveness seem overbearing - she really needs to be because she is the foundation that holds the Weasley clan together. She keeps Arthur from spending too much time on his hobby, keeps the kids (at least when they were younger) in line and fed and clothed (hand-me downs, yes, but not rags or anything), kept order in the Headquarters, treating Harry and Hermione and who knows who else as surrogate children without the blink of an eye.

However, up until DH, when you thought of Molly, you did not think "fighter" and Julie Walters really made that come across in the last movie. Molly was right up there, volunteering to fight, but she looked a little lost standing next to McGonagall in the courtyard. Even when she dueled Bellatrix, you could see how her fear for her daughter, her grief over already losing a son, and her hatred of Bellatrix made her jump into the fray and challenge Bella. But then, when Bella fights back, Molly suddenly realizes what she's done and she looks unsure... until the mama bear instincts kick in again.

Ok, yeah, I'm rambling. Sorry.

3) Snowy Hogsmeade. WTH? Someone explain to me how Hogsmeade, which is within walking distance of a completely snow free Hogwarts, is completely covered in snow in May. I know it is May because Snape dies is brutally attacked and almost dies before mysteriously disappearing and spending several years out of the spotlight before finally returning at some point (possibly around nineteen or twenty years later) and running into Hermione (Weasley, but perhaps already on her way to becoming Granger again) and kindling a new romance - in May.

4) McGonagall. MY GOD can Maggie Smith act. I loved that joyous look on her face after she cast the spell to bring the stone suits of armor to life. And the way she rushed in to duel Snape when he raised his wand at Potter.

5) Lavender Brown. Ok, that was gross. I knew she was attacked by Greyback and mauled and all that, but he was gnawing on her. And I know for a fact that the book did not explicitly list her as dead, so I have no idea who decided to actually kill her off.

6) Snape's death. That was brutal. I admit, the scene as written by JK seemed a bit ludicrous - Snake in a giant protective hamster bubble? Really? - but the movie version was seriously brutal to watch the first time (not that it became that much easier the second time). The throat slashy was bad enough, but all the thumps against the glass when the snake struck, and the blood smears on the window, and the way the Snape shape slid down the glass at the end... I'm still stuck with the one word, brutal. Visually striking, but still...

7) The Elder Wand. HE BROKE THE WAND IN HALF AND THREW IT AWAY! Didn't fix his own wand first, didn't bury it with DD, just snap and toss. Wheeee!

8) The most awkward hug ever. Okay, I laughed when Voldy hugged Draco.

9) Neville. DH p2 went a long way to showing how Neville had grown into being a bad ass, but I was a bit disappointed with how they handled Neville killing Nagini. In the book, he rips off the burning Sorting Hat all speechifying and then whips out the sword and basically gets all "Imma gonna kick your snake's arse now!" because, earlier, someone in the trio had told him how important it was to kill the snake. So he did it. Because he's Neville F'ing Longbottom, giant snake killer.

In the movie, he sort of looks like he's got a concussion from getting knocked back after he gave his rousing speech and stupidly charging at Voldy, and is just wandering around the castle with a big ass sword in his hand, and then - what a coincidence - he runs into Hermione and Ron about to get eaten and Swish, Snakey-head-off-whacken.

I mean, in the end, basically the same thing happens. He's still the one who kills the snake that ultimately lets Harry kill Voldy. But it just seems less Bad Ass and a tiny bit more Random Happenstance.

10) There should be a number ten for symmetry's sake, but I've got nothing.

OH, now I remember! Where the Hell is the bit after DD tells Snape that to save Draco's soul, Snape will have to kill DD? You know, where Snape is all "What about me?" or something like that? I WANTED TO SEE THAT, Movie Making People! I wanted to see the look on DD's face when he was basically all "Pff, whateves."

Mainly because I like having reasons to hate on Dumbles. Because he deserves it.

Good points. I also wondered how Luna went from the cottage to being in Hogwarts to helpfully tell Harry NOT TO GO TO THE RAVENCLAW COMMONROOM WHICH I REALLY WANTED TO SEE.

Did you see Tom Felton's tweet about hugging Voldemort. It was cute.

I was also disappointed in Neville's big Snake-Killing Scene, because they kept teasing it. Like "Oh, you're waiting for Neville to step up and do it? Well, what if Hermione and Ron and a basilisk tooth can do it? What if Harry can do it, again with a basilisk tooth? Wouldn't that be cool? Ha ha ha, no, just joshing with you, here's Neville in the nick of time."

I really liked Snape's memories. I wish they'd made it even more obvious (like the doe thing, which people like my mother are NOT going to get), but it was good.

I had a similar thought when Luna just "appeared" in the Room of Requirement ahead of the trio and Neville. Just hanging out with all the refuges, still wearing the same shirt she'd been in at Shell Cottage. What the heck did she do, fly there? And if she knew how to get into Hogwarts a secret way - because I'm pretty sure she wouldn't just walk up the front steps since Hogwarts was "crawling with Death Eaters" and the Death Eaters had held her captive for who knows how long, even Luna can't be that oblivious - why didn't she tell Harry before hand? Or anyone else, for that matter.

ALSO, I wanted to see Luna's bedroom! With the ceiling mural! WHY YOU NO GIVE US WHAT WE WANT, MOVIE PEOPLE?!

Ok, done ranting for this comment.

I wondered about that myself. I was all into the movie and then "boom" there Luna was and I'm not paying attention to what was going on because I was trying to figure out how and WHEN she got there.

Your #10 is EXACTLY what I was sitting there, waiting for. And it didn't happen. I was so, so disappointed. Sigh.
