Very pale honeydew melon, why do you have to sneak onto my fork and make me think you're a tasty tasty chunk of pineapple? But no, you are not tasty tasty, you are pleh.
PLEH.
Other than picking around melon in my big bowl of fruit and staring at an open word document while I pretend I'm a Serious Writer (of fanfic), I really haven't done too much today.
I did some household maintenance - fed the dog, emptied the dishwasher, filled the water bowl, wiped down the cabinets and counter, paid the bills, bothered to get dressed, etc. Then I joined meetup.com because we ran into a group of people at Family Game Night at the local game store, and they have "regular" meetups in the CSRA area and were all "Hi, here's our URL, sign up and come meet us to play games" and Captain and I were all "Woot! Human interaction!".
So that happened.
I did learn how to play Nuns on the Run though.
Captain and I have also been playing Dominion and Thunderstone at the game store a lot lately, in our on-going bid to not become shut-in hermits. True, we usually play by ourselves, but once in awhile the owner of the store will sit in for a game or two.
On Saturday - while we were at the game store, coincidentally enough - Captain ran into the GM of our bi-monthly Call of Cthulhu game, and that guy was just about to meet his weekly DnD 4.0 game, so I talked Captain into watching them play so that I could pull out my laptop and work on my Exchange fic. I managed roughly 500 words in a room crowded with two RPG groups and about a jillion teenage Yu-Gi-Oh players, so I consider that a success. Even if the little teenage brats kept trying to scoot into my half of the table with their card game. I was there first (hours before them) so they could just suffer until the DnD game was done at six and we were ready to leave. Besides, what ever happened to respecting your elders? Young whippersnappers.
We did learn that we don't want to be near the store on Saturday or Thursday evenings, because that's when the card gamers show up, and they are LOUD. Although, they do curse less than the RPG'ers.
So, now that I'm done picking all the pineapple out of the fruit bowl, I shall leave the gross melon and soggy strawberries for the Captain and put my writing music on repeat and see if I can get past the bugger of a scene that has had me stuck for nearly a month. I've been trying to write around it, but it's sort of pivotal to the entire plot so I really need to just buckle down and Do It.
PLEH.
