East facing window + being unable to sleep with too much light in the room = improvising mightily.
I now have a chocolate brown suede roller blind (couldn't afford the full-on blackout blinds) inside the window (it's quite deep-set) with a set of thick cream curtains drawn over the top. Not quite a blackout, but close.
