Beck suggested I try to get some photos of the neighbor dude's yard.

So, this afternoon, I took the dog out, then oohhhh soooo subtly hid behind a pine tree in my front yard and pulled out my digital camera. Every time a car drove down the street I would pretend to be fascinated by the bushes under my windows. I? Would make a crappy spy.

This first photo is just so you can see what I see from the house everyday. This is the biggest cross (at the moment), and from this distance, I couldn't be sure of what was under it.

Now that I've loaded the pictures to my computer, I can see that I was right. Those are lambs.

Over to the left, on the other side of the driveway, there is more statuary, including these two - I think that's an angel and possibly the Virgin Mary, although I thought Mary wore blue traditionally? I'm probably wrong about that.

This is the smallest cross on the lot (that I can see), and it's rather pretty. I think it looks a bit like a celtic cross, what do you think?

Finally, the newest addition. This cross appears to be smaller than the bigger one. Instead of lambs, I think that's a donkey pulling a cart(?) on the stump.

Not picured: More stuff, including two black flamingos or possibly pelicans? OH, they could be peacocks with their tails down? They're not emus, I know that for sure.

Wow. Our next door neighbor has a strange stone animal menagerie in a raised bed in his front yard, but that doesn't hold a candle to the cross collection.

At one point there was a house up the road that had a two or three foot tall light house on top of a tree stump, surrounded by little plastic and ceramic squirrels and chipmunks and things, all turned in to face the lighthouse as if they were worshiping it. It never failed to make Captain and I giggle.

I'm not sure which is worse; that he felt the need to put all that in his yard, or that I felt the need to sneak around taking pictures of it.

I've seen people have one religious statue or symbol in their yards, but yeah, this dude is probably either recently "saved" and/or converted to Catholicism and going all out to try and convert those around him or he's totally had his cheese slip off the cracker and thinks everyone around him is wickedly "evil" and these items will keep you all at bay.

Either way, I'd steer clear of him and his - erm - collection! ;)

As far as the pretty looking cross - I've seen lots of them - in cemeteries. Oooh, hey! Maybe he's a zombie who brought his marker with him!!!

Brains!!

At first it was sort of amusing in a "huh, that's strange" kind of way. Now it's starting to edge into slightly creepy territory.
