About a month or so ago, I posted on Facebook about Captain and I joining meetup.com.

So, I'm looking at some of the local groups on meetup.com,
the ones that advertise "Meet new people and have fun
adventures, go play paintball and zip-line with your new
friends!" and all I can think is "How many of them are
secretly serial killers?" Perhaps I do not have the right
attitude for being social?

We didn't join because we were trying to be proactively social or anything, I swear.

It was more of a coincidencey sort of happenstance thing really. We were hanging out at the game store during Family Game Night, as we do... Sometimes. Then this large group of people trickled in and broke into two groups and started playing board games and having fun and generally making Captain and I feel even more sad because we only had each other to play with. (HA)

Then, game store Owner Guy pops up and says "Hey, Large Group of People Who Come In Here Once a Month to Play Board Games, these are my friends Captain and MissMiah. Just thought I'd introduce y'all."

Paraphrasing, obviously. Also, we're in the South.

Anyway, it turns out that they are part of a Meetup.com group of local board gamers who try to get together two or threeish times a month in various places here and in South Carolina - sometime's stores, sometimes back rooms of restaurants, sometimes brave and trusting people's houses (not mine, though). So, the head dude for the group gives us a card and tells us to sign up so we can find out where the next - SUPER SECRET - meeting will be.

And that is how I came to be hanging out with people I'd only ever meet once before playing Monty Python Fluxx and Pack N' Stack for a couple of hours last night. Also, I giggled a lot.

There was HP talk (I was wearing my Slytherin/Malfoy on the back jersey) and laughing and games and rice krispie treats and most importantly, Talking To Someone Who Is Not My Husband!

So that was fun.

Still paranoid about serial killers though.

Captain is finally reading the Harry Potter books.

After years of watching the movies and listening to me discuss the fanfic (and even reading some when I sent him links to other peoples work and let him read some of my non-smutty stories), he has finally decided to read the books himself.

I think he's in the middle of the third one, with the fourth already sitting on his desk.

I've very excited about this because now we can discuss my fandom and he actually knows what I'm talking about! He's been asking me questions and we've had discussions!

I asked him who his favorite character was in book one and he said he was tempted to answer Dumbledore, just because he knew it would tick me off. (Real answer was Fred and George, btw.)
