I'll let y'all in on a little secret that you may not be aware of... I? Am not a natural redhead.

I know, I know, totally shocking.

/sarcasm

Seriously, though, my natural hair color used to be a shade I like to call mouse poop brown. I'm sure you can understand why I changed it. I've been a redhead almost constantly since I was 18 (15 years now) in one form or another, and I don't even try to pretend that I was born that way. In case you were curious, I was actually blonde up until I was five or six, then my hair started to turn.

The Captain is coming home for R&R in a few weeks, the holidays are fast approaching and I've got at least an inch of roots showing, therefore it's time to visit Ron the Fabulous. Ron is not only the only person in OK who I trust near my hair after the last few horrific debacles that will not be spoken of, he also raises chickens. One of them is named Diaper. I know this because he showed Sarah and I the pictures on his phone. Don't ask.

The problem is that I'm horribly indecisive when it comes to getting my hair done. I work myself up with "ohhh, that could be cool" and then psych myself out with "But I don't think I can carry it off without looking like Ronald McDonal/Bozo the Clown/a corpse" and usually just go with the standard R6 shade of red. Sometimes I'll be daring and mix it up with some blond highlights (but then we get into the "She said red with blond, but I'm sure all women secretly want to be a blond, so we'll give her blond with some red bits" and I really was never ever meant to be a blond.)

So - I'm putting it to y'all. If you were me, had no dress code to worry about, had a very light (pale) complexion that blotches red at the drop of the hat if I don't bother with makeup, what would you do?

I've got brown on the poll as an option, but it would have to be something fabulous because the few times I've gone back to generic brown hair, I've felt like my hair was sucking out my will to live, which is silly, but true.
