My sister has decided that I need to get out of the house, so she just called to confirm that she's picking me up to go the the 9:40 showing of Dodgeball. She's paying.
I, similarly, hadn't experienced the joy what is Zoolander before. My life, I feel, has been incomplete.
And Happy Gilmore and Meet the Parents were also on in that under-news/above-sports tier of always-showing-movies channels. A very Stiller weekend. And if Dodgeball managed to eke out The Terminal in the box office, well, apparently it's working.
Okay, I admit, I refused to spend money on this movie.
But if I had, it would have been money well spent. There was much giggling, Tess and I found it very, very funny. How can you go wrong with grown men (and a few women) getting hit in the gonads with large rubber balls? Really, it's a masterpiece - on the movies with men getting hit in the gonads with rubber balls scale of movies.
Loved the cameos. Peter Cole and the brother of the girl who played Mallory on Family Ties (Jonathan something? possibly) were brilliant as the commentators for ESPN 8 - "The Ocho".
If you have money to spare and are looking for a pick me up - go for it.
I have not had the chance to see the movie yet. Did you stick around until the _very_ end of the credits?
I was helping Bob at the theater last night and when Dodgeball was over he told me to go watch the video thing at the end of the credits.
That was possibly the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. He had man boobs. And he used them in his little dance that he did to some music. But he danced by never getting out of the couch. About the only movements he could make were with his hands holding his man boobs and waving them around. Very wrong.

(Although Alex's mysterious manbreast comments tend to make one leery.)
