Yesterday I get a letter from my insurance provider (Military, just in case you were wondering) saying that they covered my eye exam at the eye doctor's office that is located ON BASE and only takes MY INSURANCE company.... but not the refraction because the eye doctor is not on The Network.
o_O
Huh? Wait, they're on the network for the eye exam, but not on the network for the refraction part? Bwha?
"Erm... Yes?" is the answer I get from the poor man on the phone who is trying to explain my benefits to me. But, I am told, if my Primary Care Physician will just call Insurance Provider with a retro referral request, than they'll cover EVERYTHING!
Okay. I can ask her to do that.
At least, I could if she was actually working in the Clinic part of the hospital anymore. You see, my PC Physician no longer works with us Civilian patients, she's been moved elsewhere. BUT - none of her patients have been reassigned to a new PC Physician or anything, or even notified that we can no longer see Old PC Physician.
Gee, it's probably a good thing I don't have any sort of disease or condition that makes it so I need to see a doctor on a semi-regular basis, perhaps every three months or so... OH WAIT!!
Anywho, some random person called me after I stopped in to the hospital to leave a message for Old PC Physician or anyone who might be dealing with her former caseload, and this person seemed completely confused about why I would need a referral for something I'd already had - even though I explained it several times - but they'd see about finding another random doctor type person to call up the Insurance Provider and say "Oh, yeah, diabetic, needs the eye thing, thanks". But then I BLEW HER MIND by mentioning that I need to see a doctor for my quarterly blood work that is now about two months past due (yeah, I suck) and since my PC Physician isn't actually seeing patients and the hospital isn't assigning me a new PC, what do I do?
"We'll call you tomorrow."
Wankers.
In other news - took the cats to the vet for their yearly shots. They call Loki "Devil Cat".
I set his carrier up on the exam table and reached for the latch and the vet tech yelled "Wait!" and reached for her heavy gloves.
I used to get told what a pretty kitty he was when I brought him in. Now it's just "Oh lord, it's the Devil Cat."
Plus, I had a long talk with the staff about sedating Colonel Brandon so that I could get to the matts in his fur. He bit the last groomer, you see, and I refuse to subject another poor, innocent person to his temper if I can help it - not without sedation. We've decided to up the dosage since one pill wasn't enough to do more than make him a bit wobbly for an hour, and wobbly is still bitey. They warned me to be careful because some aggressive dogs only become more aggressive on ACE rather than sleepy.
Good to know.
This is why we're testing it out at home first. Although, if he does manage to rip me up, it looks like I no longer have a doctor so... that could be bad.
The vet mentioned that she so rarely hears about Roswell (being the cat who isn't depressed and not the cranky dog with allergies) that she'd forgotten I even had her. Up until she went to give Rossie her shots and there was a tiny scuffle and a bit of a hissy fit. Then the purring started.
"That's right. I remember her now."
