Thing the first: Have been stalled out completely on my SS/HG Exchange fic for a very, very long time. To the point where I was beginning to worry that I might have to dye my hair, change my name and start writing Snarry to avoid the wrath of the Exchange Mods after I begged for an extension.

Then I made Beck read what little I had (and it was "little", believe me) and asked if it was a good start or a bad start. Her answer? "It's a start." Much eye rolling and some brain storming later, I actually think I have something to work with.

Thing the second: Have spoken to the Doctor on Call for the hospital tonight. My period ended a week ago and yet I'm still cramping like WHOA. Been ignoring the constant abdominal discomfort and the occasional flare ups to OMGICEPICKSTABBYOWIEE on the left side for about six days since I figured I'll be seeing my GP in November anyway and last time I had similar pain it continued for months and my doc at the time pretty much told me to suck it up and stop being a wuss and got all distracted by my blood sugar. However, tonight there was surprising bleeding from someplace other than the expected orifice so I think I can forgive my moment of panic that caused me to call the hospital to see if cramping + surprise bleeding = ER? The answer, btw, is apparently no, in case you were wondering. Doctor OnCall did suggest that I may want to have a visit with my FP, which I'm guessing is Doctor OnCall code for GP or PCP or even Doctor TheArmyHasAssignedMeTo. Anywho, now Captain and I have to attempt to get through to the hospital family practice ward on the phone during their appointment taking window of 7 to 7:05 AM in the hopes of getting an emergency appointment.

Sadly, this is not helping me concentrate on my writing. Unless I decide to have Hermione experience the wonder of surprise bleeding from unnamed orifices.

Oh dear. Apparently, the time to worry when that happens is when it's purple blood but who amongst us has a shade chart to whip out at the critical moment.

Look after yourself, and bugger the exchange. (I'd make it Snucius, if I were you. Far nicer than Snarry)

Hope your doc is able to give you answers. That sounds highly painful.

Yikes. I would have thought that would be an ER trip by default. I really hope you get in soonest.

I'm sorry about your stabby pains. My sister had a cyst get really angry with her a while back and it sounded something like what you're experiencing. I am not sure if it was worse than her kidney stone, but it was right up there. Take care.

Up until the bleeding I assumed it was probably cyst related. Bleeding implies some issues with the lower GI or something equally annoying that will possibly involve a colonoscopy.

Have a doctor's appointment for this afternoon with someone who is not my GP, will see how that goes.

You know, the more I look at that word, the more I suspect it is incorrect.

I meant the one where they do the camera/ultrasound/whatever up the bum to look for weird things in your innards, rather than the one that results in tinkling in a bag.

Also, I suspect I need more sleep so I'm going to take a nap now.

I didn't even think of the bag thing; I knew what you were talking about. I can't remember what word is correct either way, but to a scope procedure I say "Blarg." Modern technology. But I guess it beats the alternative.

I think you got it close to right, actually. Endoscopy is the general field of intra-orifice photography, the colonoscopy being its most notorious (non-pornographic) application. The other thing is a colostomy, a medical procedure that comes with a whole new lifestyle, free of charge. I'm sorry you might have to experience the annoyance of the former, and hope you never have a need for the latter.

Take care of yourself, 'K?

Popped on to say hi, haven't died and Beck pointed me in this direction. And I think they totally suck that cramping + surprise bleeding doesn't equal ER. If you feel up to it - kick 'em hard when they finally let you in. I hope all goes well and it's just a little something that will be fine in a day or two.
