Last night, Captain wanders into my office with something hidden behind his back and tells me that he found a scorpion. In. The. House.

Actually, Roswell found it. And was very annoyed that Captain took it away because she wasn't done playing with it, thank you very much.

The thing behind his back? Scorpion in a bottle.

Yes, a living, breathing, twitchy, yucky scorpion. He's saving it so he can take it to work on Monday to prove there are scorpions about so the Army peeps can add them to the list of things that are creeping around and to be avoided already this year. I made him put it in the garage.

This morning, Colonel Brandon had an appointment at the groomers. I went over all the rules with the Captain last night. "Tell them he needs to be muzzled. Tell them he gets cranky when they touch his feet. Tell them he looks smaller than he is, and it will take more than one of them to lift him. Make sure they have your number if there are any problems. Seriously, don't forget the muzzle."

I woke up to find the dog sitting in front of the bedroom door looking at me all "I didn't do it, Mommy" and completely ungroomed other than the patch around his eyes (Which was good because the poor dog hasn't had an unobstructed view for months now.) and apparently his front nails were clipped. He loved the car ride to the groomer. He loved being in the store. But the second Captain led him to the back and they opened the gate to the grooming area he freaked, tail between his legs, timid, very unhappy. They muzzled him, but during the lifting process the muzzle came off and HE BIT SOMEONE.

By the time Captain managed to get back to the groomer, the dog was in a kennel and refused to come out until he saw Captain, and then he was all tail-waggy-happy-dog. I don't know what it is about that place but he is terrified of it. I know they've cut him before, and I also know he hates when they go near his feet. He spazzes out about letting the vet trim his nails too, takes a shot just fine but you clip his nails and watch out.

They didn't charge us for the visit, which was nice considering the biting and time spent trying to calm the dog down enough to get him out of the way.

Don't even get me started on the bills and lack of funds, right now. Let's just say that the car accident in January ended up being a godsend and that is the only reason we can afford to buy groceries right now.

On the other hand, I received March and April's Wizard Rock EP of the Month today. One is a band I've never heard before, but the other is The Remus Lupins : Horcruxes and Hand Me Downs. I adore that guy (Band? It's one guy, technically.) and heard a rumor he's looking for a gig up where [livejournal.com profile] rewil lives at some point this year.

AUUGGGHHH! Scorpions are scary! I think I might be more afraid of them than spiders.

Good call on keeping it in the garage. Eek.

Yipes! I didn't know there were scorpions about. Scary stuff. I'm just glad you all didn't get stung. Anybody know if there's such thing as scorpion repellent? Does the Orkin man do scorpions?
