Thanks to this post by
alex_shultz I decided to look around on the Net for a new toy.
I have found what I want for my birthday. Not that I have any hope of getting either of these: the Vixen (150 lbs. draw, manual safety, short draw and compact size for those of us with less strength, highly accurate... deerhide brown) or the Point Blanc (90 lbs. draw, forward mounted stirrup to help the spanning, manual safety, easily upgradable... and a stylish black and gold to complement any outfit).
Oddly enough, there are those who know me in RL who have, in the past, forbidden me to own a crossbow. I've been told that embargo has been lifted since I moved seven hours away and would have to cross state lines to bring the pretty out for show and tell.
Unfortunately I can not spend that much money on myself, even for my birthday. Plus, I don't know of a shooting range out here, and I do not hunt (I prefer my meat stupid and complacent and in one of those styrofoam things from the grocer). But every once in awhile I do itch to fire one again. It's been about two years since the last time and I Loved it. Much quieter than a rifle, easier to shoot and aim than traditional bow, and much more accurate in my case. Sadly, if I got one now I'd just end up hanging it on the wall in the office or something. I still want one though.

Those are cheaper -- both construction and price. Just, you know, don't point anything at me, 'k?

LMAO!
I've never tried a crossbow. I have a compound bow, but yeah. Targets only for me too.
