[livejournal.com profile] scatteredlogic is a genius and figured out I had cellulitis before I even made it to the ER.

Where I was all evening, thanks the the kindness of the wife of my husband's current Warrant Officer dude. She is, quite literally, the only person in town that I have a phone number for (other than my realtor, who I am not going to call at five thirty in the afternoon and ask for a ride to the ER from). Not only did she drive me there, she sat and waited until they finally discharged me at nearly midnight.

Truly annoying bit? Doctor diagnosed me with "a skin infection" by eight pm. Then, someone decided I needed x-rays, without telling me I needed x-rays, so I had to find that out when the nurse came in all "Did you get your x-rays yet?" "For a skin infection?"

Then, they ordered the x-rays of my knee, which is about three inches above where the pain starts, WTH?

Then, then, they went to do the usual blood pressure check to discharge you and *gasp* it was still high (dur) but also, apparently, my pulse was THROUGH THE ROOF. So the nurse wanders off again, and I'm sitting there all "Doody doo, would be nice if someone told me what was going on" and then SURPRISE IV!

Which, btw, it took nearly thirty minutes to finally find a working vein (and three attempts, two in the back of my hands) before the IV could go in. This was around nine thirty, I think? I asked the nurse if she would let Sgt Wife Lady know they were putting an IV in and it would be awhile, and the nurse was all "Sure" then wandered away and forgot. So fifteen minutes later, when she came to check on the IV I asked if Sgt Wife Lady was still out there and she said "OOPS" and brought her back. To sit and watch me NOT MOVE A MUSCLE so I didn't dislodge the IV for the next two hours.

Did I mention I threw up when they finally got the IV in? A lot.

On an empty stomach.

Anywho, I finally got home after midnight and the husband called to check on me since he knew I'd been in the ER and now I have huge horse pill antibiotics and I just want to finish eating my first food of the day and then maybe pass out for a few hours until I take the next antibiotic (six hour schedule, you know).
