Today's scents are brought to you by [livejournal.com profile] roman_sanguini from [livejournal.com profile] __lightning__. Yep, it's theme day here. Can you guess the theme?

Blood Kiss (Bewitching Brews) - Lush, creamy vanilla and the honey of the sweetest kiss smeared with the vital throb of husky clove, swollen red cherries, but darkened with the vampiric sensuality of vetiver, soporific poppy and blood red wine, and a skin-light pulse of feral musk. Oh, Blood Kiss, how I wanted to adoooore you. But it was for nought. In the imp - I swear all I got was blood red wine. There had to be other notes but the wine hater in me zeroed in on that and made a big old poo-poo face. And, as we learned in the first rounds of BPAL reviews way back when, vetiver isn't something to be feared but it's really not my thing. Where is my lush, creamy vanilla? My vital throb of clove and swollen cherries? Hiding behind the tang of red wine and vetiver with that pulse of musk. Which means, no love for me. Also, I'm not saying this sudden piercing headache came from sniffing this, but it is an interesting coincidence.

Hunger (Love Potions) - Evokes sheer, unadulterated carnal lust. An undeniably warm and sensual scent. Black narcissus, orange blossoms, and vanilla. Interesting. Warm vanilla-y and orange blossom and a hint of... something dark and ominious. On the skin what I'm assuming is the narcissus, but could be orange blossom because I think I've smelled this before, becomes overpowering. My initial thoughts? Hunger may evoke carnal lust but it's doing it in a flowery suffocating autoerotic asphyxiation way. It gets better as the notes all blend and finally the vanilla comes out. So much better. Perhaps not 5ml better but definitely a keeper.

Lucy's Kiss (Love Potions) - Created to represent the essence of Bram Stoker's tragic herione, Lucy Westenra. Seductive, wanton and deadly, but underscored with a soft, wistful innocense. The gentle scent of rose and a blend of Victorian spices May I just say that Lucy's kiss almost ended up smooching my computer desk and my keyboard? Much better in the imp than out. The gentle scent of rose turns to the slightly bitter scent of the fleshy part of a rose bud to me. And I'm not sure what the Victorian spices are (Posh cough) but it reminds me of something my grandmother would wear, sort of old fashioned. I want to like this, but it's really not what I'm looking for.

Nosferatu (Diabolus) - We've finally caved in to years of requests for vampiric scents. As soft as grave dust and as dry as a breath drawn within a long forgotten crypt, this is Nosferatu: desiccated herbs and gritty earth brought to life with a swell of robust and sanguineous red wines. I admit it I bought this for the name only. I knew I'd hate it. Red wine? Eww. However, I like it. It's very crisp. I don't get earth or that yucky wine like Blood Kiss.
