I have been wandering through the house the last few days, trying to see if I have anything worth offering for an SS/HG Exchange Bingo prize. I want to play, and that means I need to have a prize to exchange for a card or two, but I'm coming up blank on anything I have/can make that someone other than me might want.
Pretty sure no one but me is interested in a bunch of old chocolate frog cards (I've almost got an entire set, go me!). There's a cheap Slytherin locket I could get from Amazon that's identical to the cheap Slytherin locket hanging off a BPAL imp above my desk right now. Or an equally cheap time-turner (assuming I can still get my hands on one of those). I've got a blank Hogwarts Journal... OH, a couple of books of essays on Harry Potter. A Death Eater tattoo? Perhaps a small box full of random spare HP stuff from around my house - a sort of care package O' HP junk?
That sounds too cheap/goobery even to me.
Although the essay books are actually not bad.
I'd offer to knit a house scarf, but those things can get expensive if you want nice yarn that I'd have to special order from somewhere, unless I went with a cheaper acrylic like Red Heart (Look at me being a yarn snob all of the sudden, as if most of my knitted projects don't start out as purchase by the pound Red Heart skeins.) which I could probably find at the local Hobby Lobby. But my last house scarf took roughly a bajillion years to finish because I was easily distracted.
OH, there's a spare dwarven battle bonnet I've got folded up in a closet (sadly hornless). Someone on my flist once posted a knitted wizardy hat looking thing that I thought would pair up with a white beard well and would totally look like Dumbledore (if he'd been hit by some sort of freakish spell), and I think I might be able to modify the battle bonnet pattern to Frankenstein something like that.
I could probably manage some fingerless gloves easily enough. Or possibly a Jayne Cobb hat from Firefly.
Captain said he might be willing to make a stainless steel Byzantine weave bracelet. Or something out of bright aluminum, but that tends to tarnish, I think. I briefly mentioned the possibility and asked if he could/would be willing to do it and now he's dragged out his little tool box full of jump rings and pliers and things and is "researching" different weaves and patterns and is all "I can make earrings!". He is so cute.
Looking at the other prizes listed so far, there seems to be fic offerings. I could maybe offer one of those.
I don't know what I have to offer that someone might be interested in. I don't want to offer a prize and have some poor person who got a bingo be stuck with something cruddy that they don't really want.
Any suggestions?
