In four months, I shall have my ninth wedding anniversary.

Anniversaries with the Captain are always hit or miss, usually more miss than hit. Usually he's deployed or doing something for the Army. If he's not deployed, we're moving the household. If we're not moving, one or both of us is sick enough to wish we were dead.

On the whole, out of eight prior attempts, we've managed to have two pleasant evenings (and one of those only happened because we were pro-active and scheduled our anniversary celebration two weeks early).

I may or may not have my Captain home in time for this year's anniversary, I may or may not end up covered in the death rash from my new meds (if it were ever to happen, that would be the most inopportune, and therefore most poetic, time). I will, however, have my gift on time, because my ever practical husband asked me to purchase it myself so that I can be assured that I get exactly what I want (unless the anniversary gods decide to step in and it gets lost in shipping).

I have just ordered, four months early, the scent locket I have coveted for years.

Scroll down to the one labeled Clockwork to see what - fingers crossed - I will be wearing to dinner with my Captain on our ninth anniversary.

BTW, does anyone on my flist collect rocks as a hobby? I'm looking for some information for a decent, yet not-too-expensive, rock grinder for Captain's anniversary gift. He's wanted one for years, and I've finally broken down and agreed that he can keep one in the shed where I don't have to hear it, if we can find one to purchase. I don't want anything too cheap that will fall apart after he uses it once or twice, but I can't afford one of the three hundred dollar models I've seen, either. I would appreciate any advice if anyone has any to offer.
