I haven't had much to say lately, at least nothing I wanted to share with the world at large. Captain was briefly home for three months before duty called once again, so I've spent the last month getting use to him being gone once more. Thankfully, he'll be getting a small break over the holidays and will be coming home for a week or two.

I've also been dealing with what feels like an ovarian cyst. It's one of those "wait and see" sort of things. Wait and see if it goes away. Wait and see if it gets bigger. Wait and see if you completely lose your mind and end up stabbing someone in the hand until you can finally get something for the really annoying pain...

Anywho, of late, I've pretty much hermitted myself away in the house, wearing comfy sweats and ignoring the world outside, but that means I've begun to run out of things to do. Finished all the Christmas shopping (thank you, Amazon.com), wrapped all the presents and sent out all the Christmas cards, played about on the Wii a bit (finally tried my hand at Dead Rising and smashed the holy crap out of some zombies with a tv, also Lego Rockband is kind of fun and yet frustrating at the same time), and have been reading fic.

The fic is where I've run into the most trouble. I'm looking for some good, well written, interesting stories. I prefer SS/HG, but SS/HG/LM is all right, too. I prefer humor, romance, and if the author is going to take the relationship into erotica, please for the love of all that is good in the world, let it be well written. No spankings, please. I prefer longer stories, but not 300 chapter epic tales that don't actually get anywhere until chapter 299. I've found that there seem to be a lot of drabbles out there, which are ok, but it's really frustrating to click on a summary that is intriguing only to discover that it is actually longer than the story itself. A drabble series can be engaging, if done right, but I almost wonder what the point is in writing one or two hundred word bits and then linking twelve or fifteen of them together into a chapter. Why not just write a twelve or fifteen hundred word chapter without the line breaks?

I want something to distract me, and to keep me enthralled for an evening.

So, those of you who read or write SS/HG, any recs?
