Last night [livejournal.com profile] rewil lets me know that she mailed me a present and I should have it before three o'clock this afternoon because she paid a lot extra to have it sent "express". First, I told her she was silly because I'm sure it would have arrived just fine without the extra expense and second I told her squee because I knew what my present was going to be.

It was BPAL, in case you were curious.

2010 Beaver Moon, to be exact. So yes, there had been a rash of "Have you mailed my Beaver yet?" comments over the last few weeks.

So, I spent today sitting at my desk, looking out the front window at my mailbox, waiting for the mailman.

Who drove by at 1:57 pm, paused ever so briefly in front of my mailbox and then kept on driving WITHOUT PUTTING ANYTHING IN MY BOX.

That sounds slightly dirtier than intended.

I went out to double check, but no Beaver. I was a sad panda.

Then, at 3:15 pm, who should drive up to my house but the mailman (or, perhaps, a different mailman, it's hard to tell) who stopped and put mail in my box.

"Yes!" I thought. "Surely there is Beaver Moon to be had."

But no, there was no perfume, only an attempted deliver notice saying they had attempted deliver on my present but no one was home.

Erm.

What?

Even better, the notice said the item would be ready for pick up by 3:30 pm TODAY. That's right, by the time I googled directions to the stupid post office and got in the car and drove there, my package would supposedly be ready. Even before the postman would be able to return to the Post Office.

Which told me the bastards never even had it on the damn truck, and had no intention of even attempting delivery today.

In the end, I got my Beaver Moon and some extras (Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] rewil!) but seriously, why the need to lie, Postman dude? Why not just say "Meh, I'm lazy and it's cold, so you have to come in and get it yourself."

Also, I was so pissed off, I drove to the Post Office looking like a homeless vagabond who had not seen a brush in close to two weeks, and didn't even realize how bad I looked until I got home.

Lovely.
