Had my post-op doctor visit today. He said my throat is about seventy percent healed, which is good. However, he also said I'm looking at another two to four weeks of recovery before I'll be 100 percent, which is less good.
He also told me not to worry about the fact that nothing tastes normal (or particularly good), that my sense of taste would come back at some point.
Fabulous, in the mean time, everything tastes like blerg, but at least I'm able to eat something more than just applesauce, yogurt and melty sherbert now. Not a lot, mind, but something.
In other news, Captain dropped a huge bombshell into my lap last night and I'm still trying to deal with that. I don't want to say anything just yet, not until we figure out what is going on for certain, but it's basically a lose-lose situation for me personally but a good thing for the family as a whole, I guess.
