So, yes... I sort of forgot to post about the 13th Annual After-Christmas Christmas party two weekends ago. Well, I did post, I just didn't post anything substantial.

I was going to post a very detailed synopsis, but I think I'll just hit the high points.

  • Wii Boxing - hilarious to watch.
  • Wii Boogie - the dancing wasn't the best thing ever, but slightly tipsy karaoke is Love.
  • Sushi making kits - made me hungry.
  • Clue: The Movie - 1+2+2+1. 1+1+2+1.
  • Kobolds Ate My Baby - 'nough said.
  • Mike's Hard Lemondade - Is sort of like having some juice? Right?
  • Fra-Gee-lay.
  • Settlers of Catan - I have wood for sheep.
  • Hu Hut and Happy Valley - yummy
  • The Legend of Jodi Pig continues
  • Fizzgig - Demonspawn cat of pointy-ended death
  • Wrapping Paper fight!
    and finally
  • Spending the day catching up with friends - Super, awesome Love.

I never realize just how much I miss hanging out with them until we meet up and I have that moment of "This is how it should be. This is what I've missed."

The only way the weekend could have been better was if Captain could have come and if people could have stayed longer (Am already working on plans for next year, peoples, be warned).

And Cloverfield

Aside from the barfing, I liked the movie. It didn't make any effort to explain the hows or whys of the creature or where it came from - it was just giant, freakish monstery death.

I can respect that.

I could have respected it a bit more with a steady cam, I'm just sayin'.

Apparently, there are plenty of websites out there that were created by the movie maker peeps that do make an effort to explain a bit more - like a bit more about Rob and Co., possible reasons for the monster, lots of stuff that really has no more than two seconds of screen time in the movie flashing by in the background of a scene but is actually totally involved in the hows and whys of the Cloverfield "mythos", etc.

However, you don't need to know any of that to appreciate the above mentioned giant, freakish monstery death. Complete with parasitic mini-monstery death. Although I'm pretty sure I saw the evil-monster lice thing before in Godzilla 1985, but I may be the only person on the planet who actually watched that one so I'll give them a pass this time.

I really need to see the movie again because there are a lot of things I know to look for now that I didn't on the first viewing, but I'm going to have to wait until it's out on DVD because there is no way I can sit through the entire movie without a pause button for motion sickness breaks.
