So f'ing tired of being sick.

At least this time I have a clue at the cause. Blood sugar went through the roof over the last three months and despite my pleas that I could get it back down my way if the doctor would just give me another few months I'm back on the accursed Metformin. Don't know how many of you are familiar with the oh so lovely early side effects of Metformin, but I'm currently sicker than a sick thing.

This in addition to the other mysterious ailment that no one wants to try to treat until the gastroguy has had a chance to poke around, which would be all well and good except everyone seems to be focusing on the fact that I had been bleeding ONCE rather than the fact that I can't eat without pain and poking me in the abdomin on the left side causes me to nearly double over (I suspect that there aren't any major organs over there that would signify organ failure so no one cares). Everyone is Fascinated by my family's history of colon cancer/issues, yet no one wants to come out and say that it could be my colon acting up.

I admit, I was a tad short with the doctor yesterday. First thing she said was that she had looked at my test results (blood work from last week) and I snapped "Oh, good, I'm glad someone in this place bothers to look at those things," because it had been nearly three weeks since the last test results had come in and NO ONE BOTHERED TO CALL to let me know if they were normal or not. I'm guessing no news is supposed to mean good news, but screw that crap. If you order a round of tests on someone, you should at least bother to call and say "Hey, all clear here, no clue what's wrong, sorry."

And yes, still nothing for the pain.

And yes, I am in a hellaciously bad mood.

I'm not bloody surprised. I hope they manage to sort something out soon.

I have my consult with the gastroguy tomorrow. He'll let me know if we need to move on to the colonoscopy or some other - equally fun and invasive, I'm sure - procedure.

Although it probably won't be scheduled for several months because these things never are.

I know what you're going through with the metformin. I just had my dosage of it upped yesterday.

Dude. Interesting tactic re: test results. So apparently the onus is on you to maintain contact? So you have to call them and be all like "I CAN HAS BLUD WURK NAO PLZ?" and they're all like "OH HAI I UPGRADED UR BLUD LOL" or else "INVISIBLE BLUDWURK"....

Sorry you're in pain, mentally and physically and probably spiritually by this point. Think of things in Cat Macro, and maybe that'll help. Helps me.

Gah. Hugs.

I hateses it, which is why I stopped taking it two years ago and managed to get the blood sugar sorted out with watching my diet, but Doc refused to take no for an answer this time.

I'm giving it a week to settle down, but I refuse to feel like this over Christmas.

I Can Has Cheeseburger is a daily stop lately.

Calling for test results wouldn't be so bad if it weren't an army hospital that's severely understaffed. Calling and actually talking to my doctor (or even a nurse who works with my doctor) requires a miracle. Or bleeding from random orifices, apparently.

Metformin. Gah. I couldn't hack it. Just the memory is making me feel double plus ungood.

I'm so sorry that you're still in pain. That's so wrong that they can just shrug you off like that. I hope your consult yields better answers or at least better options.

I'm sorry you are still not feeling well. Maybe the gastroenterologist will be able to give you something for the pain? It sucks that no one has done that yet!

Aww, M. Sorry you still don't have answers. That sucks.

Good luck with your consult tomorrow.
