Oddly busy
One might think that since I am currently unemployed, have no spawn of my own and don't actually do much around the house as far as chores and cooking that I wouldn't be very busy.
Normally one might be right, however this last week or two it's been one thing after another.
Doesn't help that I'm in the midst of yet another hormone fueled spaz to clean the house (I've temp. postponed that insanity by getting Captain to promise to help me clean EVERYTHING but the garage on Friday).
I've been scrambling to work out a leave schedule because we have four Christmas gatherings to work out (One on Mom's side, one on Dad's, one with the immediate family, and one with friends), two upcoming weddings next year, and we still have to find a way to get the car title turned over to us. It sounds like all four Christmas things might happen within a three day time span which helps, and we may even be able to swing getting the title turned over if I really book it on working out insurance/tags/whatsit and if the county offices are open.
Been painting a lot. Had to finish the last of the mini's for the dungeon I'm running because heaven forbid I should use a plan old unprimed fig in a game. Now I've moved back to the last of the dragons - working on a green one, with a blue dragon waiting in the wings in its black primer. Then it's a toss up between a small D&D scale cottage or another lawn gnome (this one would be more of a zombie than an under demon I think), with a metric ton of pre-painted plastic figs from Wizards of the Coast that need to be repainted (yes, they're a great way to get a variety of figs on the cheap but some of those paint jobs are utter crap). In other words there is no end to painting projects waiting on me.
I found a pattern to work with for the hat I want/need to make for my friend K for Christmas. After talking to her I realized she only wants one tail which made things much easier; however, once I finally got the double pointed needles to stop hating me I found out that the pattern is... well, it's broken as far as I can tell. It's a K2,P2 in the round for the first like four inches but the number of stitches I was supposed to cast on would have ended on the knits, leaving four knits in a row. It also didn't tell me what weight of yarn to use or what size needles, it just gave me a gauge and said to do whatever I needed to get it.
So I threw that thing away and now I'm making it up as I go, which should be interesting. Or horrific.
To make it worse I went back to Hobby Lobby after I realized the pattern wasn't going to work and I'd need more yarn and they were completely sold out of the color I was using. The closest I could find is a completely different weight so I said screw it and took the three inches of already knitted hat apart and am about to start over. Again.
Anything else?
Painted my nails today, ten different colors in a sort of half-assed salute to the rainbow. One hand starts with red and ends with a pinky/cream, which is the closest I had to yellow on hand. The other starts with teal and ends in a soft lavender. Sort of gives them "light" and "dark" look. I was telling
rewil that one hand was good and one was evil and every time I typed something rude it was the evil hands fault.
OH, Col. Brandon had a puppy play date last Friday. AandS brought over their seven month old puppy Cara and she totally made Brandon her bitch. He likes to bark when he plays and his barking freaked her out so she jumped on him in some sort of effort to shut him up I suspect, and that freaked him out... It got to the point where he was hiding under the table while we were gaming for comfort. Eventually we pushed them both outside and suddenly they were fine and playing "chase me, chase me" until Cara pulled a Houdini and escaped through some weak fencing in the gate. She made it across the highway in like a minute flat.
And my dog? Sat there barking at the now open gate like the world was coming to an end and refused to escape. Good puppy. Stupid, but good.
Both cats took the suddenly opened and unguarded front door as their cue to make a break for it, though. It was a furry prison break movie for a bit, but eventually everyone was rounded up unharmed.
