Haven't really had an urge to post here lately because I've been working on other things.

  • Finished reformatting the cast page for [livejournal.com profile] __lightning__ to make it look all shiny and sparkly and pretty. Which is Miah code for "I added user images".
  • Painting D&D figs - in the last month I have retouched two dragons and a black pegasus, as well as painted two more dragons. The white dragon turned out gorgeous and pearlescent and I really wish I could get a good picture of it to put on here. I'll keep working on that.
  • Have started yet another busy work/pretty/slightly useful to non-player projects for Lightning that will be something of a long term project. I could, and probably will, ask for some assistance at some point from the other players but for the moment it's all just me typing away to my heart's content with the new toy.
  • Began knitting coasters out of extra yarn two nights ago. I've just started the fourth coaster, and once it's finished I shall attempt matching placemats.
  • Family is coming to visit next week so I've cleaned the house - Captain helped muchly.
  • Sat down with all of the boxes of photos I have and sorted them into four piles of vaguely chronological order. At some point I need to go through each pile and do the same, listing who, where, and when on the backs. Did I mention I have five boxes of photos?
  • And I can't forget RP. Although with everything else going on there has been less RP than usual.

OH, and BPAL updated with their Halloween/Order of the Dragon/Trick or Treat scents and they taunt me.

I'm on vacation.

Go me.

Have some amusing stories and some pics to share already, but will wait to do that when I get home. Also have some very cranky things to say that I've been sparing my flist because I'm nice that way.
Did get to see Baby C, yay!

Also, we've done the first of the summary "broadcasts" for Lightning - the Harry Potter RPG I help mod. The broadcast has five reporters that handle different "stories" to give new readers a better clue on what's been happening.

The best part though, is at the end where Bellatrix Lestrange is the Agony Aunt. She'll answer your letters if you send them in.

Item one: Have made progress on the knitting. Sort of. The purling is... vexing, but doable.

Item two: When one is out shopping at the local Volde-Mart with a friend and said friend has written the grocery list in her own amusing code, one should make an effort to actually read what is written. In other words fruitage and frottage are not the same thing, not pronounced the same*, and most likely the frottage will not be found near the front of the store next to the deli. Actually, knowing that Volde-Mart, it might be but I still wouldn't want to throw some into my cart.

Item three: Been having loads of fun plotting for an upcoming story arc on [livejournal.com profile] __lightning__ and throwing ideas off the other mods. I think this plot has gone through so many little nips and tweaks since it was first suggested and it just keeps getting better. And [livejournal.com profile] rewil has been doing fabulous work on researching the mythos behind the antagonists.

Item four: I like lists.

Item five: Went to Texas yesterday. [livejournal.com profile] rewil and I decided to cross the state line, maybe get something to eat, do a little shopping. Last time we did that we ended up in Nebraska for Mexican food. Yesterday it was Texas for sushi at Buffet City ($10 for the buffet, Mongolian BBQ, sushi and a drink AND the they had nagiri! I ate more than $10 worth of sushi alone, much less the rest of the food.) and a trip to the Wichita Falls mall where I purchased some new knee high socks and a Jareth postcard.

* - that was totally me, btw. And [livejournal.com profile] rewil and I couldn't stop giggling for the rest of the shopping trip.

In other words I'm awake and bored.

We went to Kobe for dinner (again) tonight. The lovely Stephenie was our waitress once more - are you getting a clue that perhaps we eat there a bit often since I'm learning the names of the staff? We were seated at the same table as a party of four and an older gentleman on his own and Stephenie went around the table asking for drink orders, got to [livejournal.com profile] cptn_oblivious and I and told us what we were having with a grin. She also knew our dinner and sushi order. Did I mention we're very predictable? Thomas, our chef, came to the table and knew how I wanted my steak cooked and gave me an extra portion of fried rice and extra cream sauce since he knew I always take half my dinner home for later.

We likes them, on yes we do, preciousss.

That reminds me of a story, last month at some point we were eating there and the couple next to us (which we did not know) and I were talking about chefs when my togo box came out and I was loading up my dinner, carefully picking out the steamed zucchini to leave because... eww. The lady had just given me a piece of eel to try from her appetizer because her guy was having none of that and it was pretty good, a little gooey but good. The guy goes "You'll eat raw eel but you won't eat zucchini?"

Anywho, get home and notice the transformer on the light pole on the corner is sparking big blue shinies and making a lovely hissy noise. Call the emergency line for the power company and then Captain and I bundle up in our coats and stood out in the driveway gawking like Kansans in a tornado warning. It turns out only the guy across the street's power was effected and it had been going wonky since noon. We called the power company at 8:15, they didn't show up until nearly nine. If his power had been flickering constantly since noon either he was very unconcerned or the power people were really slow.

What else? Oh, just started a new story arc for Daphne on [livejournal.com profile] __lightning__. Really looking forward to that. Had a bit of fun with a certain thread from last week. *Kisses to Draco* Snerk.

Let me leave you with this thought: Lego Deatheaters are so damn cute.

So [livejournal.com profile] rewil and I were up waiting for the BPAL Snow Moon update to go live. Sadly, we're both enablers so once the update hit there was much "Should I get this?" "Sure, you know you want it and it's a Limited Edition."

Then there was the "Okay, I've got three bottles, but there are two more I'd like to get eventually and if I go ahead and order them now I'll save shipping..."

Long story short, five 5ml Limited Edition scents have been purchased but that is all the Yule LEs I had on my wishlist.

ETA: I almost forgot this - Probably not work safe if for no other reason than it almost made me pee my pants. [livejournal.com profile] __lightning__ Harry trying to explain to Dobby a bit about the birds and bees. Don't be scared by the Mature rating, there really isn't any House-elf porn. Thank goodness.

And the drama just keeps rolling in. Perhaps a week when I'm having some depression issues of my own wasn't the best time in the world to get involved in some rather emotional RP threads... yet I did anyway. And yes, I cried. Hormones are ebil things.

Let's start with Afterglow )

132 words. Lovely. But at least I have a vague plot idea and at least one major character mostly fleshed out. Sort of.

In other news, I've managed to fubar my sleep schedule all to heck again. The night time is the right time, baby.

On the plus side, it's helped me channel vamp [livejournal.com profile] roman_sanguini on [livejournal.com profile] __lightning__. His true colors are finally starting to show and I'm really enjoying this chance to RP a selfish, evil character - even if he is just an NPC.

ETA: My brand new copy of the first season of War of the Worlds arrived on my doorstep - care of Severus Snape, Potions Master. Hee, Happy Birthday to me. Thanks, Alex.

Seriously, I ate one of those jumbo Fudge Round things around ten pm last night and was on a sugar fueled rush until well after seven am.

I did a lot last night. Most of it was technical behind the scenes stuff getting ready for [livejournal.com profile] __lightning__ to launch on Monday, so I won't bore you with the details. I was running three characters in four different threads, working on backdated history posts for Daphne's past on Lightning (still so far behind there), made eleven Katie Bell icons for [livejournal.com profile] perkygothess, wrote the summary for [livejournal.com profile] quibbling, and put the Quibbler on-line.

And then - sometime between four and six am - I did these. I'll put them behind a cut cause I'm nice that way.

Photoshop Experiment #27 - Lightning Strikes )

They're meant to work as Pimp banners for Lightning, but when one is very tired the animated one becomes hypnotic. Seriously.

Heard my husband's voice for the first time since June. It was only three minutes, but it was nice to hear him. Of course, he woke me out of my drop-dead-in-exhaustion moment so I wasn't very much with the coherent and there seemed to be a large angry duck on the phone line squawking every few seconds, but it was still nice.

So I printed out some research so I could sit lie, curl, whimper down last night and work on the backstory stuff I'm behind on for [livejournal.com profile] __lightning__ - the characters have all been asked to do a bit of prep work regarding the time line of past events leading up to the Reunion that marks the rebuilding of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade, which will be what the RP opens with when we go live.

I get into bed, build the pillow nest, pick up my pen... and decide to dye my hair. At two a.m. As I do.

Herbal Essences Radiant Ruby... I think something may have been seriously wrong with the dye (too much time spent in my car on a hot day?) because I have been coloring my hair for over a decade and this is the first time I ever looked like I was hemorrhaging from the ears and random spots upon my head. I'm positive that if I ran out into the street people would assume I had been shot in the head. Seriously, there were rivulets of the stuff running down my neck, thick chunky masses gliding into my ear. It was disgusting.

The forty minute shower around 3 a.m. probably did nothing to endear me to the neighbors on the other side of my duplex wall, but these things can not be helped. I had blood clots to remove from my hair, damn it.

The end result? An intense red/purple that will, I'm sure, fade within days.

And a sharp reminder that I should never, ever, ever consider going to black hair (which I do) because even just this dark red/Purple makes me look like one of the Undead. Undead with red splotches and freckles, but Undead never the less.
